Happy October 14th

It’s October 14th again. The 23rd Anniversary of the night I saw Husker Du at the Spectrum in Montreal. Why you should care, I have no earthly idea. But I do.

I posted my story on it last year, so I’m just going to link to it again.

    • Yeah, Uncle Bob came through town not too long ago and played one of his solo shows. I’m guessing he was trying out new material. Being the lame ass dumpy middle age guy that I am, I missed it. Sigh…

    • I tried to book Joan River’s as guest host but she was incapacitated. Something about the skin on her face snapping, and taking out half of a studio audience.

  1. Wow, major flashback. I never saw them. I think the idea of having seen them in Montreal would have been seriously awesome. Great (re)post. I like memories! Two sentimental days in a row! Awwww.

  2. Dude, Bob Mould lives here and DJ’s at the 9:30 club EVERY Sunday.
    I’m not kidding.
You need to get the family together and get your ass to DC.
Loved Husker Du but what did you think about his Sugar days?

    • Yes, we’ve been talking about going out to D.C. One of our close friends just moved to Gaithersburg, MD so we’ve been thinking of doing the whole D.C. experience with the Kiddlin’s.

I was a big fan of the Husker’s, and while I liked his Sugar stuff, it just wasn’t the same. I still think his best post Husker album was Workbook. Then probably Beaster.

Speaking of D.C., does Fugazi ever get together and play?

  3. Silly amateur! Knee pads!
Anyway, Henry got an already alcohol and drug fueled crowd amped up even further during an outdoor concert at Atlanta, GA’s infamous Masquerade. Sadly I was in the front row when the barriers gave way and was the victim of hundreds of burly off balance drunk guys.
