Teacher marks our height against the wall…

Melancholy day on the porch this morning, as the kids return to school. They are in 5th & 6th grade now, the beginning of adolescence. Time for braces, gangly limbs, and crushes. The sands in the hour glass of childhood are running out on them, and they have no idea. So bitter. So sweet. All of life can be summed up in those fleeting moments.

They can also be summed up by this song…

  1. I’ve been listening to that song a lot lately. Get out of my head. I mean, technically there’s plenty of room in here what with all the empty space, but its confusing. And you don’t put the cap back on the toothpaste.

  2. I wish you were casually waiting to accidently bump into me at the corner of Prospect and Richmond on our way down the hill to school this morning….I’m wearing the pleated plaid skirt and navy blue knee socks.
